In the Mail

I work 8 miles, door to door, from home. This should take about 20 minutes, tops, but thanks to the overpopulation of Los Angeles, this drive to and from work is often a painful exercise in gridlock. Last week, it was especially bad, including one day that took a record two hours and ten minutes to get home.

Coming home, though, was sweet, and made even sweeter by some very good little parcels in my mailbox. First, my eBay dresses arrived, and while they will all fit well with a few tweaks, my favorite one – printed with little red flowers and little blue hats – fits like it was custom-made for me.

Then I got a package from the adorable Bernie Dexter. At the Dog and Pony Show a couple weekends back, I won a gift certificate to her shop, which has, among other things, some great Retrolite offerings from Classic Hardware, which I just can’t get enough of.

And last, Moo Cards! People at the Dog and Pony Show were asking for my card, so they could see where I posted my photos. So, I decided it was time that I had one, and went for a set of business cards to match my new banner.

I couldn’t be happier with them. I got the “green” paper and the texture and print quality are just great.

So, yeah – bad traffic week, good mail week. At least each day ended on a positive note!

Oh, the suspense. I left you hanging there about the good reason to wear socks, didn’t I?

The random number gods were smiling upon me last week, because I was the winner of Puglyfeet’s Hot Sox giveaway! (Sadly, there isn’t a website for Hot Sox, but here is a good example of their offerings.)

Sushi, coffee, and piglets!

I’ve been a Hot Sox fan for-like-ever. I’m also not somebody who wins things very often. So, you can imagine that receiving these in the mail just made my day.

Thank you, random number gods, and thank you, Puglyfeet! Now, if only we could have some relief from the 90 degrees and humid temps here in SoCal, I’d get a chance to wear them… But after my good luck with the random number gods, expecting a miracle from the weather gods is probably asking just a little too much.
