happy shoes… :)

Real life has been getting in the way of more fun things, like blogging, as of late, but I do have a couple of reviews in the works.

In the meantime, take a look at the new El Naturalista shoes group on Flickr, started by random acts of megan, who has excellent taste in shoes. And while you’re at it, check out Meg’s blog, Go Naturale.

I was so excited to start catching up on my Google Reader and find that one of my photos had been featured on SFGirlByBay!

If you haven’t been there, go. Now. Victoria’s blog has been one of my favorites for a long time, and I’m sure it will become one of yours too.

Thanks for the link love, SFGirl – glad my photo made you smile!

…and all I came back with was this puny photoset, because I was too lame to take pictures of the lovely dinner I had with Ugly Green Chair, Catiecake, and Chiffonade. Thanks, all, for a great but all-too-short end to my little business trip!

I was up there for a taxonomy conference. There had originally been plans for a longer stay and some shoe shopping, but one thing led to another and the sore throat I had at the beginning of the week prompted me to cut the trip short. I sort of regret it, but then by last night I was so tired and ready to come home and sleep that I think I made the right decision. Anyway, must go back for a non-business trip soon.

Things I learned:

  • My City-centric family really had no reason to diss San Jose the way they did all those years. It’s a pretty cool city.
  • The library at SJSU has a Steinbeck room. Just my luck. New goal: get a job there.
  • I know more about my job than I think.
  • Ugly Green Chair and Catiecake are every bit as adorable in person as I knew they would be.
  • Must make an effort to see Chiffonade in person – after all, we live in the same city.

My love of the Internets has increased exponentially these past few days. Big virtual hugs to all!

Oh, the suspense. I left you hanging there about the good reason to wear socks, didn’t I?

The random number gods were smiling upon me last week, because I was the winner of Puglyfeet’s Hot Sox giveaway! (Sadly, there isn’t a website for Hot Sox, but here is a good example of their offerings.)

Sushi, coffee, and piglets!

I’ve been a Hot Sox fan for-like-ever. I’m also not somebody who wins things very often. So, you can imagine that receiving these in the mail just made my day.

Thank you, random number gods, and thank you, Puglyfeet! Now, if only we could have some relief from the 90 degrees and humid temps here in SoCal, I’d get a chance to wear them… But after my good luck with the random number gods, expecting a miracle from the weather gods is probably asking just a little too much.
